To ensure optimum performance, particular attention has been paid to the following areas, to hone and perfect their design and performance over the years to bring you the best RM-Z possible:

  • Kick start, decompression system and idle gear
  • Cooling System
  • Piston, piston pin and piston ring

The 449cc, 4-stroke, fuel-injected, DOHC engine, with a compact and lightweight design, packs the right combination of dirt-slinging torque and arm-stretching horsepower, which powers the RM-Z450’s championship-winning performance. And for today’s riders, the engine does even more, thanks to a mix of new technology and proven engineering. The engine design means easier starting, more consistent launch off the line, and a smoother spread of torque and horsepower to make the bike more exciting to ride – and easier to ride to victory.

Easy starting functionality

Starting the RM-Z450 has never been easier, with consideration paid to every component in the process, using feedback from our race teams around the world. The extra-long kick start gives great ergonomics for the rider, and has a long swing to minimise the effort required.

Engine Cutout

The 449cc, 4-stroke, fuel-injected, DOHC engine, with a compact and lightweight design, powers the RM-Z450's championship-winning performance.

Cooling efficiency functionality

Cooling efficiency is maximised to ensure optimal engine output, utilising simple and direct hose routing with y-shaped connectors.

Take The Holeshot

Suzuki Holeshot Assist Control (S-HAC)

Suzuki Holeshot Assist Control (S-HAC) is a selectable launch mode
 system derived straight from factory race bike. The basic idea of Suzuki Holeshot Assist Control (S-HAC) is as follows;

  • It changes ignition map for quicker launch. (Only in launch sequence)
  • It is selectable from two different modes to suit to different conditions.
  • Three-stage control for more detailed control. In the moment of launch, ride over the starting gate, and acceleration, each sequence is different; which requires different engine characteristic for quicker launch. Therefore, we set different maps for each sequence.

S-HAC has two selectable modes so riders can choose the best option for the starting conditions.
For hard surfaces or slippery conditions at the starting gate, choose A-Mode. In this setting, Holeshot Assist Control alters ignition timing in moment of launch and ride over the gate to reduce wheel slip and to deliver smooth launch, and it advances ignition in the acceleration sequence for stronger acceleration. Then one of three conditions will return the ignition to normal operation: after 6 seconds from start; when you shift to fourth gear; or when the throttle is closed (whichever happens first). When conditions at the starting gate provide better traction, and a more aggressive launch is needed, choose B-Mode. For these conditions, Holeshot Assist Control advances ignition timing to allow increased throttle response and stronger acceleration off the line. But level of ignition advance is optimised for each three sequence. The system returns the normal ignition map by same conditions of A-mode.

The Perfect Balance

Chassis - Main frame

The steering head pipe design of the RM-Z450 mirrors that of the RM-Z250. This along with the rib structure on the inside of the pivot parts and lower connection mean frame weight is minimised and chassis rigidity is optimised. All this culminates in the trademark great cornering performance of the RM-Z.

Air Time

KYB rear shock

The KYB rear shock features integral adjuster system. That provides easy access to adjusters, rebound damping and compression damping High & Low speed are adjustable with the integral adjuster. While the cushion rod spacer shape allows for optimum absorption feeling.

SFF Front Fork

The Showa Separate Function Fork (SFF)-Air Front Fork, tested and proven by factory racers, is standard equipment on the RM-Z450. Eliminating the heavy coil spring from the right side fork, the SFF-Air fork uses air – lightweight and micro-adjustable – to deliver a higher level of performance. The fork is the significantly lighter, and it delivers improved suspension performance with easier adjustability. Riders can adjust the air pressure trackside with a simple hand pump using each chamber’s separate and easily accessible air valve – no need for complicated spring changes.

Waved Disc Rotors

Rich Coupler

Rich/Lean couplers
For quick fuel adjustment setting to suit riding condition, two couplers are enclosed. One is for rich and another for lean fuel setting compared to stock setting. Customer can change fuel setting to best suit the riding conditions by just connecting either coupler.

Excel aluminium rims
Excel aluminium rims are made specifically to withstand rugged racing environments, including Supercross, Motocross and off-road conditions.
