KARRO TAKES DOUBLE WIN AT BRAMPTON

Mon 04 May 2009

MVR-D Suzuki rider, Mattis Karro, dominated round three of the Maxxis British Motocross Championship at the weekend, taking a tremendous double win on his RM-Z250 at the Brampton circuit in Cumbria yesterday.

Karro, who had not ridden at the track before this weekend, dominated the first MX2 race with an 11 second lead over rival Jake Nicholls early on, settling into the pace and still crossing the line with a comfortable lead to take the win.

Race two would be an almost carbon copy performance, with Karro at the front of the pack from the start. Settling into good rhythm, Karro would be chased by Stephen Sword, but this time ran away from the pack, ending the race with an impressive ten second lead, taking the overall win, and moving up the championship standings to second place.
Karro commented, "Like many of the circuits on the calendar, I've never been here before, but I had a good feeling with the bike from the start and felt comfortable throughout. Today has been really special and to leave here with such a strong position in the series is very encouraging".

In the MX1 category, James Noble would too join the front of the field, charging hard to a well-earned third place in race one, following a battle to the line with second place finisher Gareth Swanepoel. Race two would see the RM-Z450 rider go one better, battling hard with race leader Brad Anderson. A strong ride saw Noble push Anderson all the way to flag, missing out on the win by just 0.894 of a second.

Noble commented, "What a day. Of course I'm very pleased to leave with such a solid overall result, but it was frustrating to miss out on the race win by such a small margin. It's a tough track and not easy to pass, but the RM-Z performed fantastically and I feel really confident on the bike now."

Team manager, Mark Chamberlain, commented, "I'm really pleased for the guys. Mattis demonstrated his true ability today. Tried hard and rode two very mature races, giving himself a real chance of championship glory. James rode very well too, and pushed Anderson all the way to the flag in the second race. In truth I couldn't have asked for any more from either rider."
