Cheshire based Team Doodson Suzuki youth rider Scott Mathia, walked away this weekend from round six of the British Masters championship, crowned Amateur MX2 champion.
Arriving at the legendary Hawkstone Park track with an already great lead over second place man Luke Spence, round six of seven of the British Masters would work out well for the RM-Z250 rider. Mathia took a clean sweep of wins in each of the four races, claiming the overall, but most importantly the championship title, by 381 points.
Riding in the MXY2 class at the same event, James Dunn would fight hard on his RM125, improving his final race position on each session, from fifth, to fourth, to third to eventually take a race win. Dunn would take a third in the overall standings on the day.
Youth team rider Dan Lanfear also rode in the Elite Championship round at Wakes Colne, in Essex. Already mid way through the championship, Lanfear took the small wheel RM85 confidently over the technical and rutted track to gain an overall seventh on the day.
Team manager Paul Butler commented, “Yet again the boys just keep uping their game and for Scott to win this championship and be our only rider in that class just proves how reliable the whole package is. It is great news and will improve his confidence into the future.”
