eam Suzuki GB Youth rider Danny Lanfear had some ups and downs at the weekend at Canada Heights in Kent, where he dropped to second in the Red Bull Elite Youth Championship.
With a promising start to the weekend, the small wheel 85cc rider took third in qualifying, before heavy rain turned the track tacky for moto one. With a mid pack start and a clean ride, Lanfear rode to a great fourth place at the flag, before conditions changed again for race two, getting to the first corner in third spot and maintaining the position to the finish.
Sadly for Lanfear, Saturday's weather issues would be swapped for a technical gremlin in the first race on Sunday that saw him start last out of the gate. Riding out of his skin, he clawed himself back up through the pack to take seventh. Due to more rain and tricky conditions, a pair of thirds were to follow for the last races of the weekend. Lanfear took third overall on the day and is now second in the championship standings.
Team manager Paul Butler commented,
“It's been a tough weekend, but Danny is still in with a fighting chance to take the championship back. He showed great determination battling against the different track conditions at the weekend, and its just very unfortunate that the plug caused the misfire before race three. Also, I hope James gets well soon, missing the event due to a virus.”
