TOUGH BUT PROMISING WORLD STAGE RIDES FOR MVR-D SUZUKI

21st June 2010

It was a tough double outing on the world stage for the MVR-D Suzuki team at the weekend, as Matiss Karro contested the German Grand Prix at Teutschenthal and Carl Nunn competed in round four of the Red Bull Pro Nationals, running as part of the 2010 British MotoGP round at Silverstone in Northamptonshire.

At the new Silverstone MX track, Nunn turned around a poor qualification position to start the first race on Saturday strongly, making use of the RM-Z450s power to finish the opening race in a promising eighth place. Impressing in the shorter Supercross style race on Saturday evening, Nunn proved he is back at the sharp-end with a solid fourth place finish, before going on to claim ninth and a return to the podium with a third in Sunday s races.

Nunn commented, At the start of the weekend I thought we were in trouble. I struggled initially with the track, but just got my head down and managed to pull off a reasonable result in the first race. With that behind me, I knew we could improve and just pushed on throughout the weekend. To get back on the podium in the last race is a real confidence boost for the rest of the season.

In Germany, Matiss Karro would not enjoy the same fortune as his teammate after a crash in the qualifying race left the young Latvian on the far side of the gate for the start of race one. Moving up to 18th early-on, the RM-Z250 rider looked to have the pace, before two crashes relegated him back down the order to an eventual 29th place.

Determined to put the crashes behind him in the second race, Karro was as high as 11th before a damaged engine case forced retirement. Karro commented, The crashes were unfortunate, but the second race was the real disappointment for me. I think I probably rode better than I have ever in a GP today, so to suffer retirement through no fault of my own is a real disappointment. However, I feel really positive for my home grand prix this weekend coming.

Team mananger Mark Chamberlain commented, It s been tough for both boys, but I think we can all be proud. Carl is back on the ladder and climbing his way back to the top and Matiss proved his speed in Germany before the retirement. We ve had a tough season, but as a team it s making us stronger and I think we can be confident of more success before the season s out.
