Suzuki Youth team rider James Dunn improved his chances of securing a British title at the weekend, moving up to third place in the MXY2 British Championship standings at round two of the championship, held at Lyng in Norfolk this weekend.
Running in the top six for most of the first race on his Suzuki RM125, Dunn didn't let the rival four-stroke machines dominate, claiming a well deserved third place at the flag. Race two would see the youngster forced around the outside of the pack at the start, putting him into fifth place by the second corner. Dropping back a few spots whilst trying to hold the position, he would still see a strong finish to the race, taking seventh at the flag.
Taking a fifth overall on the day, Dunn crucially moves up to third in the series standings, climbing an impressive three positions in just one round.
Paul Butler, team manager, commented,
“Well done to James, the longer start straight makes it hard work for James against the four stroke machines, but he's a great technical rider who can pull the places back through the tighter sections. Quite simply, he rode well in both motos and is now firmly back in the championship hunt. The BSMA championships also took place at the weekend where fellow teammates Dan Thornhill on the RM-Z250 and Danny Lanfear on the Small Wheel RM85, both took three heat wins. A good weekend for the entire team.”
