This weekend saw Anthony Deacon and Sam Barrett of MKM Rocketman Suzuki win the Iron Quad class of the QRA Great 8.
This year’s event took place just outside of Neath, North Wales with the track comprising of forest, open land and even some parts of the Wales Rally GB WRC course to make up an 8km lap.
Opening with a Le Mans style start, Deacon and Barrett completed the 8-hour endurance race using the same bike in hour and a half sessions until the last two hours where they did an hour each.
The team rode well in the persistent rain and by keeping pit times and bike handover times to a minimum, their LT-R450 had completed 42 laps by the end of the 8-hour event despite a puncture in the first half of the day.
Anthony Deacon commented after the event, “I’m really pleased we’ve won, our LT-R450 didn’t skip a beat even after 8 hours of constant riding. The whole team did really well too, keeping things slick in the pits really helped us to complete more laps.”
All of MKM Rocketman Suzuki will be competing next weekend at Weston Beach Race.
