SUZUKI RIDERS COMPLETE EPIC TRIP
Jul 2007
The Ben charity riders completed their epic trip from Trafalgar Square in London to the Red Square in Moscow last Saturday, passing through seven countries and raising in excess of £18,000 along the way for the motor industry charity.
Riding a Suzuki V-Strom, the three rider team joined a convoy of 21 people making their way to Moscow over seven days, enjoying the varying terrain, cultures and scenery over the 3000+ kilometre route.
From 44 degrees heat in Berlin, through to torrential rain in Moscow, the riders experienced the highs and lows of adventure travel, including an arduous eight and half hour wait at the Russian border.
Talking about the trip, team rider John Sirett commented, “What an amazing experience. There was as much work just organising the paperwork to get through the borders as there was getting to Moscow, but the trip made it all worthwhile. The V-Strom never missed a beat, even in the horrendous temperatures in Germany. We adjusted the chain once throughout the whole trip, which was the extent of the required maintenance”.
Tracked Live by trip sponsor Acutrac, the teams progress was mapped throughout the journey via the web, including an incredible 200 yards in eight hours as they entered Russia for the final leg of the journey.
“I think the scariest part of the trip was the traffic in Russia”, commented John. “Once we were over the border and into Moscow it really was an eye opener, and we had to stay alert. That said, the whole trip ran extremely smoothly and we were delighted to be part of the event and raise funds for a great cause. I’d like to thank everyone who contributed”.
