ARCHIBALD ENDS TT IN FINE STYLE
Jun 2007
Adrian Archibald finished off his Centenary TT in fine style recording his fastest ever lap around the Mountain Circuit [126.772mph] in Friday’s Blue Riband Senior TT. The Ballymoney man had suffered a problematic week with handling and technical problems, but all’s well that ends well, and Adrian picked up fifth place on his Relentless Suzuki. Teammate Bruce Anstey unfortunately retired on the opening lap, after a high-speed ‘wobble’ detuned the Kiwi, ending his Centenary TT somewhat prematurely.

“I’m really happy to have finished the TT with a positive result and I have to say the GSX–R1000 Relentless Suzuki that I rode today is probably the best bike I’ve ever ridden around this place. Fifth is a positive result after the week I’ve had, and today’s pace was very hot. I’ve also gone faster than ever before so I can go home a little happier, although I would like to have given Suzuki a podium – something they really deserved.”
Bruce Anstey
“I’ve had a mixed week with a win [Superstock], a fourth place that should have been a win [Supersport] and a couple of disappointing rides on the big bike. The TT is an endurance test for both rider and machine. The Relentless Suzuki team have worked very hard this fortnight and I think we possibly deserved a little more success but in all we did a pretty good job.”

“I’m delighted for Adrian today. He has worked hard this week and finally the rider and machine package produced a top result. Of course we would have liked to win the Senior TT, but it is very difficult to come here and win on bikes that you don’t run on a weekly basis. Both Suzuki and Pirelli have provided us with a great package for this year’s event and we should be happy to have tasted success. Bruce was flawless in those two production based races, and he was very unlucky not have taken home a double. To Suzuki, Relentless, Beacon and all our sponsors we thank you again for your fantastic support – and to all the guys in our team, thanks for the big effort.”
